When you've pushed out a melon you can talk, Senator Dan Liljenquist

Me, Myself... as Mommy.

I know women who take advantage of "the system." They're in such a rush to start their families that they neglect the fact they don't have the resources to PAY for that child. While these baby-mamas may see this as a smart thing to do, they take from people like you and me who fight to stay ahead themselves. Medicaid is there for families that fall on hard times but are out there looking for work. That could be me at any time. Brian loses his job, I'm pregnant, we'll need Medicaid to bring that baby into the world. Thank goodness it covers C-sections and epidurals.

That being said, even if someone is taking advantage of the system, don't punish those who are trying to play by the rules. Republican state senator Dan Liljenquist (Bountiful) mentioned an idea that made my skin crawl and my body shake. He likes the idea that Medicaid no longer cover C-section or epidurals. He believes, and is correct, that people are taking advantage of the assistance. Even then, women and babies shouldn't suffer when they are in need. Liljenquist said only emergency C-sections should be covered. Hey dude, women don't usually volunteer to be split open, and doctors wouldn't even consider a C-section if it weren't an emergency -- unless a mother has already had one in previous labors. Also, Senator Liljenquist, you're a man. When you push a melon out of a hole the size of a lemon, you can talk about not covering epidurals. I hope his wife has him sleeping on the couch.
